President Obama spoke of website issues; does this affect Californians applying online for Covered California?
President Obama referred to website issues Monday in his address to the nation. Do you know which site he is referring to?
The Affordable Care Act VS. Covered California
The Federal government offered the opportunity for each state to set up a federally funded state administration for ACA. If a state did not choose to set up a state administration of ACA, the federal government would administrate it. California was one of the first states to step up to the plate and set up CoveredCA as an entity to take on the responsibility. Other states, for example, Utah, Texas, Arizona and more chose to have the federal government take charge.
The website President Obama mentioned that has been flooded with technical difficulties is the federal website for all those states that have not set up their own website and administration. This website is www.healthcare.gov.
In contrast, www.coveredca.com has proven to have very good success with minimal issues given that for the first three weeks of open enrollment, more than 2.2 million unique visits were made to their site. The Service Center has handled more than 150,000 calls during the same period.
