You may or may not have noticed an increase of pink in your daily life; October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we are proud to show off our pink ribbons at Partner Agency.
Chances are you, or someone you know, has been affected by breast cancer. That is because breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in American women, second only to lung cancer.
With Breast Cancer, Be Proactive!
You don’t have to have a family history of breast cancer to be at risk. The American Cancer Society’s estimates about 231,840 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in the US in 2015, and about 40,290 women will die from breast cancer. However, breast cancer has a 89% survival rate, if it is caught early.
What should I do?
There is no real way to prevent cancer from forming, but doctors agree that a healthy diet, regular exercise and responsible life choices can help lower your risk.
It is also vital to get regular medical exams:
- Women between 19 and 39 years of age should receive clinical breast exams every 1-3 years.
- Women 40 and older should receive yearly clinical breast exams and yearly mammograms.
Women’s Wellness services and mammograms are included in all Affordable Care Act compliant plans. If you are looking for health insurance in California, Partner Agency can help! Please call our office at (714)482-9500 to discuss your options and for free quotes.
